Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The banknotes are ready and the ribbon is chosen. Now you just need the base that turns a small gift into a lovingly made present. These wooden rectangles with rounded corners and two holes are made for exactly these crafting moments. Thread a string through the opposite holes. Paint or write on the smooth surface. And your tag, sign or garland piece is done. A simple wooden cutout becomes exactly the piece your idea was missing.
What changes for you
- You can hang up your decorations straight away, with no drilling. There are two opposite holes with Ø 3 mm in the middle of the long sides.
- Join several rectangles with ribbon, string or wire to make garlands, signs and tags. The vertical holes make threading easy.
- Design them however you like. The untreated poplar plywood can be covered with paper, painted, coated or oiled.
- You'll find the right format for every project. Choose from a small tag at 3 x 1.5 cm up to a large sign at 50 x 25 cm, in 1 cm steps.
- They are pleasant to work with. The laser-cut edges are smooth and the corners are gently rounded with a 5 mm radius. Nothing catches and nothing splinters when you craft with children.
Why these wooden rectangles make a difference every day
On an Advent wreath, on a gift bow or as a place card at the table: a small piece of real wood feels warmer and more personal than any printed card. Your crafts start from a ready-made base shape in real wood. You don't need to cut anything first, so you have more time for the actual designing. A quick idea at the kitchen table becomes something you're happy to give away or hang up.
Material & finish
The rectangles are made from 3 mm poplar plywood and are laser-cut. That's why they have the typical brown edge, which gives each piece a fine, defined finish. The edges are smooth and the workmanship is clean, so you can start designing straight away. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glues and oils adhere well, and you decide how the surface looks in the end. Wood is a natural material and is never completely uniform. Different shades, fine grain patterns and small knots are part of it and make every piece one of a kind. The cutouts are made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

- For model making: the fine size steps from 3 x 1.5 cm help you find exactly the part or sign format your project needs.
- On a present: write a name on the small rectangle and it becomes a gift tag that stays as a keepsake after unwrapping.
- In a café, at the market or on the shop counter: write on them with chalk or paint pens. Price and variety signs hang on ribbon or wire in minutes. They look uniform and natural, and you can swap them quickly.
Good to know about poplar plywood
Poplar is one of the lightest and palest native woods. That's exactly why it's so popular for craft and model-making cutouts. The pale, fine-pored surface takes paint evenly, so motifs and lettering come out sharp and clean. For you, that means little priming and bright results, even when little hands hold the brush.
Care & durability
There's not much to do. Store the untreated rectangles in a dry place, and they'll keep their shape and pale look. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to use them outdoors or in a damp environment, a coat of paint or oil protects the surface. That way you can enjoy them for longer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the rectangles or stick things on them? Yes. The poplar plywood is untreated and can be painted, covered with paper, coated or oiled. Paint adheres directly to the natural surface.
Why do the edges have a brown rim? The rectangles are laser-cut. This creates the typical dark edge. The edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
Which ribbon fits through the holes? Both holes have a diameter of 3 mm. Strings, thin ribbons and wire thread through them easily.
Do all rectangles look exactly the same? No. Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind.
How is the width determined? The rectangles are made in a 2:1 ratio. If you choose 10 cm, for example, the other side is 5 cm.
Think of the moment your garland is hanging up. Or when your money gift amazes someone. Or when your hand-lettered sign decorates your stall. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
