- Your projects look finished and neatly cut. That's thanks to the smooth laser-cut edges and the neatly rounded corners with a 5 mm radius.
- You can start creating right away, with no prep needed – the wood is left natural and takes paint, oil, glue or lettering directly.
- No sharp edges to worry about, even when children are crafting with you – every corner is softly rounded and comfortable to hold.
- You won't run out of blanks on bigger projects – you can order them individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why these wooden rectangles make a difference day to day
A good blank takes the most tedious work off your hands: cutting, sanding and rounding. You sit down and go straight to the fun part – creating. Whether it's a name sign, a gift tag or a base plate for your model: the result looks well thought out, and your mind is free for your idea rather than your tools.
Material & finish
The rectangles are made of 3 mm poplar plywood. It is light, holds its shape and feels pleasantly smooth. Laser cutting gives clean, smooth edges. It also leaves the typical brown edge that gives the cutouts their distinctive look. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You decide on the finish yourself. As a natural material, every piece is unique. Brightness and grain vary. Small knots or slight irregularities may occur. This is not a defect but the nature of real wood. The cutouts are made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden rectangles
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own sign for their room – and in the end, every door has its own little one-of-a-kind piece.
- In model making: as a base plate, sign or component in exactly the right size – giving your model the clean base it deserves.
- Before the party: write or stamp on names and put one at every place – and your table decor looks lovingly prepared without much effort.
- As a gift tag or dog tag: write on it, drill a hole and thread a ribbon through. Your parcel then carries a personally labelled wooden tag instead of a sticky label.
- In a café, farm shop or at a market stall: use them as handwritten price and variety labels on the counter. They are uniform in size, quick to swap and sturdier than paper.
Good to know about poplar plywood
Poplar is one of the lightest and palest native woods. That's why poplar plywood has long been a popular choice for model making and crafts. The pale, even surface takes paint particularly well. Even soft shades look rich and bright. This makes these cutouts a rewarding canvas for your ideas.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: store the untreated cutouts somewhere dry and keep them away from constant moisture, and they'll stay stable and pale. If you paint, oil or varnish them, you give the surface extra protection and choose the look at the same time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the rectangles straight away? Yes. The wood is untreated and left natural – you can paint, oil, decorate or write on it right away.
Why do the edges have a brown rim? The rectangles are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown laser edge – and at the same time leaves the edges smooth and clean.
Do all the cutouts look exactly the same? The dimensions are consistent, but the wood itself is a natural material: shade, grain and small knots vary, making every piece unique.
Are the rectangles suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, they belong in dry indoor spaces. For outdoor use, you should protect the wood with a suitable coating first.
How thick is the wood? All rectangles are made from 3 mm poplar plywood – lightweight yet stable.
In the end, it's not about a piece of plywood. It's about the moment a simple blank becomes your sign, your tag or your model part – and you look with satisfaction at something you've made yourself. Just choose the size and quantity that suit your project.
