The windows are clean and the tea is steaming. You're wondering how to decorate your windows, door and table for Christmas this year. Ideally with natural materials instead of plastic glitter. This wooden stencil with Santa and his sleigh is made for exactly that kind of Advent crafting. It's a Santa sleigh template in plywood. You can paint it, spray over it or hang it straight up as a decoration. A simple piece of wood becomes your very own Christmas motif.

What changes for you

  • You get clean, even motifs without drawing freehand. The stencil is laser-cut and has smooth, precise edges.
  • Your motif always fits its spot, whether it's a small window or a large shop counter. You can choose the width of the inner cutout from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You decorate the stencil just the way you like. The wood is untreated, so you can stick things on it, paint it or oil it.
  • You save time on bigger craft projects, for example with children or in a club. The stencil also comes in sets of 10 or 25.
  • You're holding a genuine natural product, not mass-produced goods. It's made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden stencil makes a difference in everyday life

Homemade Christmas decorations feel different from shop-bought ones. But without a template, a good idea can quickly turn into frustration. With the stencil, your sleigh works first time. Then you can focus on the fun part: choosing colours, decorating and hanging up. Piece by piece, you create Christmas decorations that really look like you. Calm, natural and homemade.

Material & finish

The stencil is made from 3 mm plywood and cut out by laser. That's where the smooth edges come from. It also creates the typical fine brown edge, which gives the motif a warm, handcrafted look. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue or oil well. Wood is a purely natural material, so every stencil turns out a little different. Varying shades, fine grain patterns and small knots are normal. That's what makes each piece one of a kind.

Dimensions & technical details

  • Material: plywood, untreated (not varnished or glazed)
  • Material thickness: 3 mm
  • Shape: Santa with sleigh (inner cutout)
  • Width of the inner cutout: 5 cm to 50 cm, selectable in 1 cm steps
  • Frame: at least 2.5 mm wide (at the narrowest point, wider elsewhere)
  • Cut: laser-cut, smooth edges with typical brown rim
  • Made in Thuringia, Germany

How to use the stencil

  • On an Advent weekend with the children: place the stencil and paint Santa's sleigh together. Every window gets its own even winter motif.
  • If you want to make a sleigh: place the template, trace the outline and cut it out. This way you can make as many identical motifs as you like from paper, felt or card.
  • Hang it straight up as a decoration: paint the stencil or leave it natural. Then attach it to a branch, door or window. The inner cutout looks like a small wooden silhouette picture.
  • In a café, bakery or Christmas market stall: use the stencil to spray your counter, shop window or price tags in a consistent look. Quick, repeatable and neat.
  • For school, nursery or clubs: with the set of 10 or 25, every child has their own stencil for crafting, decorating and painting.

Good to know about Santa's sleigh

The image of Santa travelling in a sleigh pulled by reindeer became famous mainly through the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” from 1823. Since then, the sleigh has been one of the best-known Christmas motifs of all. Everyone recognises it at a glance. Whether on a window, a counter or homemade cards.

  • Width of the inner cutout freely selectable: 5 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps
  • Available individually or as a set of 10 or 25

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the stencil or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, spray it, stick things on it or oil it – just as you like.

Why does the stencil have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this process. It also gives you smooth edges and a warm, handcrafted look.

Does every stencil look the same? The shape is always exactly the same, but the wood isn't. As a natural material, it shows varying shades, grain patterns and sometimes small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

How is the size measured? The width you choose, from 5 to 50 cm, refers to the inner cutout of the sleigh. The surrounding frame is added on top. At its narrowest point it is at least 2.5 mm wide.

A piece of plywood is only the start. What counts is the afternoon when paint, wood and a little time turn into your own Christmas decorations. And the moment when the sleigh hangs in the window and simply belongs there. Just choose your size and get started.
