Material & finish

The signs are laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. This gives them the typical brown edge, which adds to the plank look. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so you can get started right away. The wood is a purely natural material. It varies in shade, shows a lively grain and may have small knots. This makes every piece unique and is not a defect. The signs are made by Bütic in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Is the wood treated? No, the poplar plywood is left natural. It is not varnished and not glazed. You can stick things on it, paint it, oil it or coat it straight away.

Where does the brown edge come from? The signs are laser-cut. The brown edge forms during cutting and is typical of this cutting method. It adds to the rustic plank look.
