Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The invitations are out, the table is taking shape – and now all that's missing is the little detail that makes your decorations truly personal. This vintage-style wooden key is made for moments like these: a plywood key silhouette you can paint, decorate or simply lay out in its natural finish. Whether for a wedding, a gift tag or a crafty afternoon – this simple cutout becomes exactly what you make of it.
What changes for you
- You can design the key just the way you imagine it – because the wood is untreated and easy to paint, decorate, oil or coat.
- You get exactly the size your project needs – with a length of your choice from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- It's pleasant to work with and needs no finishing – the laser cut leaves smooth edges that won't splinter.
- Your decorations look like they're from another era – the typical brown edge left by the laser gives the design its charming vintage character.
- You can kit out larger projects in one go – with sets of 10 to 100 pieces for a festive table, a craft group or shop decorations.
Why this wooden key makes a difference in everyday life
A wooden key tells a little story: of doors that open, of a new home, of hearts won. That's exactly why the design never goes unnoticed on gifts and on the festive table – it brings back memories and sparks curiosity. Instead of any old table scatter, you're setting out something that has real meaning for your occasion.
Material & finish
The key is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. It is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The cut is clean and the edges are smooth. You can pick up the shape straight away and start working on it. The wood is left untreated. It is neither varnished nor glazed. This means paints, glues and oils adhere well. Wood is a natural material, so every piece turns out slightly different. Some are lighter, some darker. Some show fine textures or small knots in the grain. This is exactly what makes every key one of a kind.

How to use your wooden key
- For wedding decorations: a small key on every napkin or as table scatter on the festive table – and your guests will discover the "key to my heart" motif before the first course.
- On the gift table: tie the key as a tag to a housewarming present – and the gift tells its own story.
- At the craft table: children and adults paint each craft key in their own colours – because the wood is untreated, even the first coat covers well.
- In a shop window or café: large keys of up to 50 cm set the scene for themes like "Grand opening" or "Nostalgia" – quick to place, with no elaborate set-up.
- For catering or at the weekly market: with a set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can decorate lots of place settings or bags in a uniform look – just reach into the box.
Good to know about the key
For centuries, the key has stood for trust and new beginnings – think of the ceremonial handing over of the keys when moving into your own home, or the saying about the "key to someone's heart". That's why the design is especially well suited to weddings, housewarmings and topping-out ceremonies – wherever a new chapter begins.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: store the untreated wooden key in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture – that way it will keep its shape and look good for a long time. If you'd like to use it outdoors or for longer, you can paint, oil or varnish it beforehand.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the wooden key? Yes. The plywood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed – so paints, glues and oils adhere well.
Why does the key have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is part of the cutting process. It gives the design its typical vintage look and also ensures smooth edges.
How wide is the key at the height I've chosen? For reference: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 3 cm. The proportions stay the same across all sizes.
Do all the keys look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite: as a natural material, it can be lighter or darker and may show fine textures or small knots – every piece is one of a kind.
In the end, it's not about a plywood cutout. It's about the moment your guests discover the little key at their place and smile, because the decorations tell a story. Simply choose your size and quantity – and get started.
