Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A money gift for a housewarming, a mysterious invitation to a themed party or a door sign with a wink. Sometimes all an idea needs is the right shape to become something special. This wooden keyhole is made for exactly that. It's an untreated plywood cutout, ready for your craft table. Paint it, decorate it or simply hang it up as it is. You decide what it becomes.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, gluing or writing straight away. The wood is unfinished and takes paint, varnish and oil well.
- Your shape fits your project exactly, from a small tag to a large wall decoration. You can choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can carry on crafting without any finishing work. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so there's no sanding and no splintering.
- You'll have plenty of pieces for bigger projects or crafting with children. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 are available.
- Your finished piece looks handmade, not punched out. The typical brown laser edge frames the shape like a fine outline.
Why this wooden keyhole makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut shape takes care of the most tedious part for you: sawing it out cleanly. You can focus on the fun part – designing, combining and gifting. The keyhole shape is instantly recognisable. So your decoration tells its little story all by itself, whether on a gift, a door or a wall.
Material & finish
The keyhole is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood. That's where the smooth edges come from, along with the distinctive brown edge that gives the shape depth. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can decorate it however you like. Every piece is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a natural material, so every cutout turns out a little differently. The grain varies, and small knots or colour differences can occur. That's exactly what makes each piece one of a kind.

How to use the wooden keyhole
- Make money gifts for a housewarming or a key handover: put a banknote behind the keyhole and tie a ribbon around it. Your gift comes with a story straight away.
- Crafting with children on a rainy afternoon: each child paints their own keyhole. At the end, a colourful collection hangs on the bedroom door.
- As decoration for themed parties, murder mystery dinners or fairy-tale evenings: hang a few keyholes in different sizes on the wall. The room instantly feels a little mysterious.
- Christmas crafts with a difference: order it small, paint it and add a ribbon. The keyhole becomes a hanging decoration for the tree or a gift tag.
- In shops or escape rooms: use large cutouts in the shop window or as a clue. They're quick to put up and instantly recognisable.
Good to know about the keyhole
The key has long been a symbol of a new home. It's no coincidence that the key handover is still the big moment when you move in. That makes the keyhole a fitting shape for gifts for a move, a topping-out ceremony or a first home of your own. It stands for the door that is just opening.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. The untreated wood stays looking good for a long time in dry indoor spaces. Avoid constant moisture. If your keyhole is going to hang outdoors, it's best to protect it with a coat of varnish or oil.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the keyhole? Yes. The wood is untreated and can be painted, decorated, oiled or finished in other ways.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The keyhole is laser-cut. The brown edge is created during cutting and is part of its typical look. The edges are still smooth.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, plywood shows different shades, grain patterns and sometimes small knots. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece unique.
Which size suits my project? You choose the height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps. Small sizes work for tags and gifts, large ones for wall and shop window decorations.
A piece of plywood becomes your gift. Someone holds what you designed in their hands. And they notice that you put some thought into it. Just choose your size – you design the rest.
