Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. It's a rainy afternoon and the kids are asking for something to do. On the table lies a wooden manatee, just waiting to be painted in bright colours. This untreated wooden cutout is made for craft afternoons like this. You don't need to prepare anything. You can get started straight away – paint, stick and decorate your manatee. A simple piece of plywood becomes your very own seaside decoration.
What changes for you
- You can start painting straight away, with no sanding or pre-treatment. The plywood is untreated and smoothly laser-cut.
- Your decoration always fits, from a small table scatter piece to a large wall decoration. You choose the width freely from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Crafting with children is relaxed, because the laser-cut edges are smooth and nothing splinters.
- You're well stocked for bigger projects, such as a children's party, nursery or school project. The manatee is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- You're holding a genuine natural material instead of printed card. Every piece has its own grain, so each one is unique.
Why this wooden manatee makes a difference in everyday life
Ready-made decorations look the same everywhere. A wooden cutout you design yourself tells your own story. Hang it in the kids' room window, scatter it on the christening or birthday table, or add it to an underwater scene on the wall. You design the manatee exactly the way you imagine it. And because you choose the size, it fits your project. You don't have to adapt your project to the decoration.
Material & finish
The manatee is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood in our own production in Pößneck. The laser leaves the typical brown edge, which gives the silhouette a clear, fine outline. The edges are smooth and feel pleasant in your hand. The wood is left natural, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it. Paints and glues adhere well. As a natural material, the wood shows different shades, fine structures in the grain and occasionally small knots. This is not a flaw. It makes every manatee unique.

- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own manatee. In the end, a whole colourful herd swims across the windowsill.
- In the kids' room: Combine several sizes on the wall. An empty space turns into a little underwater world.
- On the party table: Small manatees as table scatter for a seaside birthday or christening. Your guests have something to discover as soon as they sit down.
- For a money gift: Use the painted manatee as a tag or card decoration. As a home-made Mother's Day or Father's Day gift, it shows you put some thought into it.
- In a shop or café: Use it as decoration in the shop window or on the counter for a summer or sea theme. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you can set up a uniform display quickly.
Good to know about manatees
Manatees belong to the order Sirenia. The name comes from the sirens, because sailors once mistook these gentle animals for mermaids. This link between the sea and fairy tales makes the motif popular for seaside decorations, kids' rooms and anything with an underwater theme.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated manatee in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. The wood will then keep its shape and look good for a long time. A dry cloth is all you need for dusting. If you paint or oil the surface, you decide how it looks.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the manatee straight away? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it without any preparation.
How tall is the manatee at the width I choose? As a reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 4 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The manatee is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge with smooth edges, with no finishing needed.
Does every manatee look the same? The shape does, the wood doesn't. As a natural material, it shows different shades, fine structures and occasionally small knots. This makes every piece one of a kind.
What counts is the moment your hand-painted manatee hangs in the window and you think: we made that. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
