Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. An under-the-sea children's party, a bathroom windowsill that would feel even cosier with a seaside touch, or your next craft afternoon with the kids – sometimes all that's missing is the right motif. This wooden seahorse is an untreated blank that you can design exactly to suit your idea: paint it, decorate it, oil it or hang it up just as it is. Made for your next craft idea – in the size you really need.
What changes for you
- You get exactly the size that suits your project – the seahorse silhouette can be ordered in any height from 3 cm to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps.
- You can start creating straight away, with no preparation – the plywood is untreated and takes paint, glue or oil without sanding.
- You'll be holding clean, smooth edges – the laser cut means no sanding is needed, and little hands love to pick them up too.
- Kitting out larger projects is easy – order singly or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100, for example for crafting with children in a group or class.
- You can count on consistent quality. Every piece is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why this wooden seahorse makes a difference
A finished decoration looks the same for everyone. A blank becomes your own piece. Use it as part of a seaside table setting, as a painted little gift or as an element in a home-made dreamcatcher. The seahorse fits into your idea instead of dictating it. Wood feels grippy and slightly rough. So it feels noticeably different from smooth plastic decorations.
Material & finish
The seahorse is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood and has the typical subtle brown laser edge – a feature that gives the motif a fine outline. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so you can carry on working straight away without sanding. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor stained: variations in colour, small knots and differing textures are all part of a pure natural material and make every piece unique – not a flaw, but character.

How to use your wooden seahorse
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own seahorse – and in the end, a colourful underwater world hangs in the children's room.
- To celebrate passing the Seepferdchen swimming badge: write the name and date on the blank – and a piece of wood becomes a little keepsake that lasts.
- For nautical table decorations at a christening, birthday or summer party: a motif at every place setting, and your table tells of the sea before the first course is even served.
- When you decorate a gift of money: the seahorse on the card shows that someone has put in time and effort. And suddenly the envelope feels loving rather than awkward.
- In cafés, shops or at market stalls: large silhouettes of up to 50 cm set a nautical theme in the shop window or on the counter – quick to put up, with a lasting effect.
Good to know about the seahorse
In Germany, almost everyone knows the "Seepferdchen" (seahorse) as the first swimming badge – a proud milestone for many children. That's exactly why the wooden figure makes such a lovely keepsake or gift for passing the test, painted and personalised with name and date.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: an occasional dusting is enough. As the wood is untreated, it's best kept away from constant moisture – if you'd like to use it outdoors or in damp rooms, a coat of paint, varnish or oil protects the surface and keeps it looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Is the seahorse already painted or varnished? No, the wood comes in its natural state – untreated, not varnished or stained. You can decorate, paint, coat or oil it, just as you like.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. Thanks to the laser cut, the edges are smooth; the only typical feature is the subtle brown laser edge.
Why don't all the seahorses look exactly the same? Wood is a purely natural material. Differences in shade, fine textures in the grain and small knots are normal – and that's exactly what makes every piece unique.
How wide is the seahorse at my chosen height? For reference: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Where does the cutout come from? From our own production: every seahorse is made by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the moment a simple blank becomes your very own seahorse – painted, personalised, hung up. Just choose your size and quantity and get started.
