Maybe you want a flock of birds on the nursery wall. Maybe your window still needs a cheerful motif. Or you're looking for a craft idea for your next afternoon with the kids. This wooden parakeet is made for your craft table. The untreated silhouette shows the parakeet as a little parrot in profile. It's ready for painting, sticking and decorating, just as you like.

What changes for you

  • You design the parakeet exactly to your taste. The plywood is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it.
  • You'll find the right size for every project, from gift tag to wall decoration. The width can be chosen freely from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your kids can get started straight away, with no sanding needed. The laser-cut edges are smooth and clean.
  • Planning bigger craft sessions is easy, for example for a children's party, school or nursery. The parakeet is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
  • You get a piece from our own production. It's made in Thuringia, with the typical brown laser edge that gives every shape a fine outline.

Why this wooden parakeet makes a difference in everyday life

A shop-bought decoration always looks the same. A bird you design yourself tells your story. Painted in bright colours by little hands or kept subtle in natural tones for the living room: the shape shows a bird with a curved tail and rounded forms. It fits easily into existing arrangements. And because you choose the size yourself, the parakeet fits exactly where you want it.

Material & finish

The parakeet is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. That's where the smooth edges come from, along with the typical brown rim that outlines the silhouette. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue and oil well. As a natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Brightness and grain vary, and small knots may occur. That makes every piece one of a kind. The cutout is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden parakeet

  • Crafting with kids: each child paints their own parrot. In the end, a colourful flock sits on the windowsill, and everyone is proud of it.
  • As a window decoration: hang a few parakeets in different sizes in the window. The room instantly feels livelier, without much decorating.
  • As a gift tag: tie a small parakeet with a name to the parcel. The present then carries an individually designed wooden piece on the outside.
  • In the nursery: arrange several birds above the bed or on the wall. It's a motif that grows with your child and can be repainted at any time.
  • For nursery, school or craft group: with the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you have the same blank ready for the whole group. Everyone starts the same way, with no cutting or preparation.
  • In a shop or café: hang them up quickly as seasonal window and counter decorations. They're light enough to move around and easy to swap for another motif.

Good to know about the parakeet

Parakeets belong to the large parrot family. The budgie has been one of the most popular pet birds in Germany for decades. That makes the motif well suited to small gifts for bird lovers. It also works as a decoration on the cage shelf or as a tag on a present for anyone who loves their feathered housemate.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated cutout dry and protect it from constant moisture. That way the wood keeps its shape for a long time. If the parakeet is going to hang outdoors, simply seal it with paint, varnish or oil of your choice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the parakeet and stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can coat it, paint it, stick things on it or oil it. It's ideal for acrylic and craft paints.

Why are the edges brown? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that frames the silhouette like a fine outline. The edges are smooth and don't need any finishing.

Does every parakeet look the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't. As a natural material, it varies in brightness and grain, and small knots are possible. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece unique.

Is the cutout suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it belongs indoors. For outdoor use, protect it first with varnish, wood stain or oil.

How big is the parakeet at a width of 10 cm? The height is then 8 cm. The proportions stay the same for all available widths.

In one afternoon, a plain piece of wood becomes a colourful parrot. And then there's the smile when it hangs in the window afterwards. Just choose your size and get started.
