Why this wooden sun makes a difference every day
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere – a motif you've designed yourself tells your own story. With this wooden blank in the shape of a sun, you have a base you can reinterpret as often as you like: bright yellow for the nursery, left natural for a country look, or lettered as a name sign. If you'd like to make a wooden sun yourself without sawing and sanding, you can skip straight to the fun part here.
Material & finish
The sun is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This creates the typical brown edge that gives the motif a finely drawn outline – many people deliberately use it as a design feature. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed, and takes paints, glues and oils well. Wood is a purely natural material: shade and grain vary, and small knots or irregularities in the structure are normal. That's exactly what makes every sun unique – no two pieces are alike.

How to use your wooden sun
- At a craft afternoon with children: every child paints their own sun – and proudly takes home a piece they've designed themselves.
- For a summer party or garden celebration: scatter small suns across the table – and it instantly looks more cheerful, with hardly any effort.
- In a children's room or hallway: paint a large sun and hang it on the wall. It puts you in a good mood every morning.
- For cards and gifts: stick on a mini sun – and simple wrapping becomes a small, handmade gesture.
- In a café, farm shop or at the weekly market: suns in different sizes make seasonal counter and window decorations – a set of 25, 50 or 100 is enough for your entire summer display, consistent and quick to set up.
- In nurseries, schools or workshops: our sets come with a fixed number of pieces, so you can plan group projects reliably. Every sun has the same shape and quality.
Good to know about the sun
The sun has always stood for light, warmth and joy – hardly any symbol is understood so instantly as positive. That's why the motif suits so many occasions: for a birth or christening as a sign of a bright start, for summer fêtes and garden parties, or as an uplifting greeting when someone could do with a little sunshine.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: as the wood is untreated, it keeps its natural look for a long time if stored dry. Avoid prolonged moisture – if you'd like to use the sun outdoors, it's best to protect it yourself with varnish or oil, choosing the look at the same time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the wooden sun? Yes. The plywood is untreated and takes acrylic paints, varnishes, oils and glues well – no pre-treatment needed.
Why does the sun have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is part of the cutting process. It ensures smooth edges and finely traces the outline of the motif.
Do all the suns look the same? The shape is identical for all of them. As wood is a natural material, shade and grain vary slightly – every piece is unique.
Is the sun suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it belongs in a sheltered indoor space. For outdoor use, you can seal it yourself with varnish or oil.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the moment your self-designed sun lies finished in front of you – looking exactly the way you pictured it. Simply choose your size and quantity, and the rest is up to you.
