They feel pleasant in the hand and won't splinter when you craft with children. The wood is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, pens and glue stick directly to the surface. As a natural material, each piece varies in shade, with fine grain patterns and occasional small knots. This makes every speech bubble unique. It is not a defect.
