Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Your craft afternoon is planned and the paints are ready. All that's missing is a motif that children and adults will both enjoy. This wooden porcupine made of plywood is made for your craft table. It's an untreated animal figure for crafting, painting and decorating. You order it in exactly the size your project needs. That way, an idea in your head becomes a piece that really ends up on the wall, in the window or on a present.
What changes for you
- You can decorate it freely – with paint, glue, oil or napkin decoupage. The wood comes untreated in its natural state.
- You get the size that really fits: from 5 cm for table scatter and cards up to 50 cm for large decorations. You can choose in 1 cm steps.
- Your decorations look neat and well thought out. The laser cut gives smooth edges and an even outline – no sanding needed.
- You don't have to saw it out by hand. The shape is already cut, so you can go straight to the fun part – decorating.
- When crafting with children, you have a motif everyone recognises straight away. Every child can add their own idea for the quills.
Why this wooden porcupine makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut motif takes the tedious groundwork off your hands and leaves you the creative part. Instead of struggling with a fretsaw and template, you just get started. The result looks planned, not improvised. Use it as window decoration in a child's room, on a handmade card or as a gift tag. The porcupine brings a touch of forest and nature to your design without much effort.
Material & finish
The porcupine is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This is where the typical brown edge comes from. It gives the figure a natural, almost burnt look. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so you can hand the figure to children. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That's why it takes paint and glue well. As a natural material, it is never completely uniform. Variations in shade, fine grain structures and small knots are part of it. This makes every piece unique. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden porcupine
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own porcupine. In the end, a little parade of woodland animals hangs in the children's room.
- For handmade cards and gifts: Glue or tie on a small motif. Your money gift or greeting card then has an individually designed detail.
- As autumn and woodland animal decoration: Arrange it with pine cones, moss and fairy lights. This creates a calm, natural scene on a windowsill or sideboard.
- At nursery or school: With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, the whole group has the same motif. You're ready to start in minutes.
- For shop windows and shop displays: A large figure up to 50 cm wide draws attention. You can paint or decorate it to match your range.
Good to know about the porcupine
The porcupine is known not only from the animal kingdom but also from philosophy. In Schopenhauer's famous porcupine parable, the animals huddle together on cold days. They look for the right distance between closeness and warmth. That makes the figure a fitting motif for cards and small gifts. Use them to tell someone they are close to you.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated wood dry and protect it from constant moisture. It will then keep its shape and natural look for a long time. If you paint, oil or varnish the figure, you decide how the surface looks in the end.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the porcupine? Yes. The plywood is untreated and takes paint, glue and oil well. You can paint it, glue things on, oil it or leave it natural.
Where does the brown edge come from? The figure is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge and also gives smooth, clean edges.
How tall is the figure at a certain width? As a reference: at 10 cm wide, the height is 7.5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Do all figures look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. Plywood is a natural material. It varies in shade and can show fine structures or small knots. Every piece is unique.
