Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The christening cake is ready, the napkins are laid out – all that's missing is that nautical touch on the table. A wooden ship's wheel brings exactly that feeling on board: as table scatter between the plates, as a tag on a guest favour or large on the nursery wall. With sizes from 3 to 50 cm, you can pick one that feels made for your occasion.
What changes for you
- You'll find the right size for every idea – because the wooden ship's wheel can be ordered from 3 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps, from table scatter to wall decor.
- You can design the shape exactly to your taste – the untreated wood can be painted, decorated with stickers or paper, varnished or oiled.
- Crafting is easier – thanks to the smooth, laser-cut edges, there's no sanding needed.
- You can cover bigger projects too without reordering – the ship's wheels are available individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
- Your decorations look perfectly coordinated – the typical brown laser edge frames every ship's wheel evenly.
Why this wooden ship's wheel makes a difference every day
Whether it's a christening, a First Communion, a summer party by the lake or a nautical children's room – real wood feels firm and rough to the touch. It shows grain and weight that printed cardboard can't offer. Place a few small ship's wheels on the table, and your table tells a story of the sea. And because the wood is raw, the design is entirely up to you. Leave it natural and understated, or paint it in bright colours as a ship's wheel decoration for the children's room.
Material & finish
The ship's wheel is made from 3 mm thick plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. That's why it has clean, smooth edges and the typical brown rim. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue and oil well. As a purely natural material, it shows different shades, fine structures in the grain and occasionally small knots. This isn't a flaw – it's what makes every piece unique.

How to use your ship's wheel
- For a christening or First Communion: scatter small ship's wheels as table scatter between candles and shells. Your nautical table decoration is ready in just a few minutes.
- Crafting ship's wheels with children: each child paints their own wheel – and in the end, a little fleet of colourful one-offs hangs in the room.
- As wall decor in the bathroom or nursery: hang a large 40 or 50 cm ship's wheel – and the wall instantly gets a touch of wanderlust.
- For cafés, fish restaurants or beach bars: several sizes combined on the counter and in the windows bring the nautical theme indoors – with sets of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can decorate several tables and areas in a matching style.
- As a gift tag: write a name on a small ship's wheel and tie it to the ribbon – your little gift looks lovingly prepared, with hardly any effort.
Good to know about the ship's wheel
Alongside the anchor, the ship's wheel is one of the best-known nautical symbols and stands for orientation and staying on course. That's exactly why it's so popular for christenings, First Communions, confirmations or starting school – wherever a new chapter in life begins and you want to wish someone a good voyage.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do: keep the untreated wood dry and away from constant moisture, and it will keep its natural look for a long time. If you oil or varnish it, you'll seal the surface further and make the colours last longer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the ship's wheel or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated and in its natural state – you can paint it, decorate it, glue things on or oil it.
Why does the ship's wheel have a brown edge? The shape is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge, which also gives you smooth edges with no sanding needed.
Do all the ship's wheels look the same? The shape does, the wood doesn't: as a natural material, it varies in shade and grain, and small knots are normal – every piece is one of a kind.
How do height and width relate to each other? Both measurements are the same: if you choose a width of 10 cm, the height is also 10 cm.
In the end, it's not about a piece of plywood. It's about the moment your guests step up to the beautifully laid table and immediately sense that someone has decorated it with love. Simply choose your size and quantity – you set the course.
