Halloween is just around the corner, and the window still looks bare. You want decorations that are more than plastic from the discount shop. This wooden tarantula brings a spider silhouette into your home. Paint it, decorate it or simply hang it up in its natural state – just as you like. It's made for your next afternoon of crafting. That way, a plain cutout becomes your very own spooky decoration.

What changes for you

  • You design your decoration exactly to your taste. The plywood is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, varnish it or oil it.
  • You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small table scatter piece to a large window decoration. Choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can get started straight away, with no sanding needed. The laser-cut edges are smooth and clean.
  • When crafting with children, you'll have plenty for everyone. The tarantula comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
  • You get a piece from our own production – made by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden tarantula makes a difference

Shop-bought decorations look the same in every home. A wooden cutout only becomes something of your own through your hands. Painted a spooky black, covered in glitter or left in natural wood: the spider shows your style. That's what counts when guests stop in front of the window. Or when children proudly hang up the spider they decorated themselves.

Material & finish

The tarantula is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. It has the typical brown edge, which gives the silhouette extra definition. The wood is untreated, unvarnished and unstained. That's why paints, glues and oils adhere reliably. Wood is a natural material and never completely uniform. Variations in shade, small knots and slight irregularities in the grain are part of it. They make every piece one of a kind – not a flaw, just the nature of wood.

How to use the wooden tarantula

  • Crafting with children before Halloween: each child paints their own spider. In the end, a whole spooky gallery hangs in the window.
  • As a window decoration in the darker months: hang a large silhouette in the window. The evening sun then casts spooky shadows into the room.
  • As a hanging decoration or table scatter on the Halloween table: spread small spiders between plates and candles. Your guests will have something to discover before the first bite.
  • In a café, bakery or shop: arrange several sizes in the shop window or on the counter. Seasonal, quick to set up and just as quick to pack away.
  • For craft groups, schools and nurseries: the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 provide enough for whole classes. You don't need to reorder piece by piece.

Good to know about the tarantula

The tarantula owes its name to the southern Italian city of Taranto. As a large hairy spider, it has long been the classic motif for all things spooky. That's why its silhouette works so well as a decoration for Halloween, themed parties and scary movie nights. Everyone recognises the motif straight away, no explanation needed.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. The wood is untreated, so it's best to store the tarantula in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. That way it keeps its shape and will last you through many Halloween seasons. Or seal it with paint or oil while you decorate it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the tarantula? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint, colour, decorate or oil it. Paints adhere directly to the surface.

Where does the brown edge come from? It forms when the wood is laser-cut and is typical of this cutting method. The edges are smooth and don't need any further finishing.

How tall is the spider at my chosen width? The height increases in proportion. For example, at a width of 10 cm, the height is 9 cm.

Why does every piece look slightly different? Wood is a natural material. Variations in shade, fine textures and small knots are normal. They make every tarantula one of a kind.

This wooden cutout is for one moment. Your self-painted spider hangs in the window. The first guests at the door jump, then smile. Simply choose your size and quantity – you do the rest.
