Why this wooden tuna fish makes a difference every day
Shop-bought decor often looks the same everywhere. A wooden fish you've decorated yourself shows your own style. Leave it in its natural tone on the wall or paint it brightly for the window. The clear silhouette brings a seaside feel to the room without being overpowering. You choose the size yourself. So the tuna fits the wall space you have and isn't crowded out by other pieces.
Material & finish
The tuna is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives smooth edges and a clean, even shape that feels pleasant in the hand. The fine brown edge is typical of laser cutting and gives the silhouette a natural outline. The wood is left unfinished, neither varnished nor stained. So you decide whether to leave it natural, paint it, oil it or decorate it. Wood is a natural material. Different shades, fine grain patterns and small knots are part of it and make every piece one of a kind. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden tuna fish
- Crafting with kids: everyone paints their own fish. At the end, a colourful shoal swims through the kids' room as a mobile.
- For a First Communion or christening: small fish as table scatter or at each guest's place. The table tells guests about the occasion before the meal begins.
- In the bathroom or on a beach house wall: hang several sizes in a staggered row. The room gets a calm, seaside look.
- Making money gifts: attach a banknote to the wooden fish. An envelope becomes a gift with a wink for anyone heading to the sea.
- In a fishmonger's, restaurant or at a market stall: use it as a label sign or counter decoration. Your range is easy to recognise at a glance and inviting to look at.
Good to know about the fish
The fish is one of the oldest Christian symbols. The early Christians used the Greek word “Ichthys” as a sign to recognise their faith. That's why the fish silhouette suits not only seaside decor but also christenings, First Communions and confirmations. Use it as table scatter, a tag or a name card.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the unfinished wooden fish dry and wipe it with a dry cloth when needed. Avoid constant moisture so the plywood doesn't warp. If you paint or oil the fish, you protect the surface further and can enjoy your decoration for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the wooden fish? Yes. The plywood is unfinished, neither varnished nor stained. You can paint it, oil it, decorate it or use it as it is.
Where does the brown edge come from? The fish is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It's part of the process and also gives smooth, clean edges.
How tall is the fish at the width I choose? The shape stays in proportion: at 10 cm wide, it is 5 cm tall. From this you can work out the height for any other width.
Do all the fish look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it shows different shades, fine grain patterns and occasionally small knots. That's what makes every piece one of a kind.
A plain silhouette becomes your own piece of decor. You paint it, hang it up or give it as a gift. Just choose your width and quantity. The rest is in your hands.
