The craft table is set with paints, brushes and glue. The children can't wait to get started. This wooden traffic light is a cutout made for crafting with children. It has a clear traffic light silhouette. You can paint it, stick things on it and design it however you like. The plain plywood cutout becomes decoration for a child's bedroom, material for road safety lessons or a small gift.

What changes for you

  • You can start straight away without any sawing. The traffic light arrives cleanly laser-cut and ready to use.
  • You design it just the way you want. The wood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, varnish it or oil it.
  • You'll find exactly the right size for your project. Choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can plan group projects at nursery, school or a club with no extra effort. The traffic light comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
  • You're holding a genuine natural material. It has smooth edges and a clean finish. It is made in our own production in Pößneck.

Why this wooden traffic light makes a difference every day

A ready-made cutout takes care of the hardest part for you. Instead of cutting out and sanding, you can focus fully on designing. Even the youngest children recognise the clear traffic light shape at first glance. That makes it a rewarding motif for playful road safety lessons or for decorating a car-themed bedroom. And because the surface is untreated, paint and glue hold reliably.

Material & finish

The traffic light is made from 3 mm plywood and laser-cut. This gives it smooth edges and the typical brown rim, which outlines the motif with a fine contour. The wood is untreated, neither lacquered nor glazed. It takes paints, varnishes and oils well. As a natural material, every piece shows its own grain. Differences in shade and small knots are part of it and make every cutout one of a kind. The traffic light is made by Bütic in Thuringia.

How to use the wooden traffic light

  • Crafting with children: each child paints the red, amber and green themselves. They learn the traffic light colours along the way.
  • At nursery or primary school for road safety lessons: with a class set from the pack of 25 or 50, the whole group can craft at the same time. You don't have to spend hours cutting out beforehand.
  • In a child's bedroom: a large traffic light on the wall turns the play area with a road play mat into a little town.
  • As decoration for a vehicle-themed birthday: scatter small traffic lights across the table. Everyone can see the party theme straight away.
  • In a shop window or on the counter: the distinctive silhouette draws attention to promotions about mobility, cycling or starting school.

Good to know about traffic lights

Germany's first traffic light stood on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin from 1924. The famous traffic light tower controlled what was then the busiest traffic in Europe. To this day, the traffic light is probably the best-known symbol of safe behaviour on the road. That makes it ideal for craft projects on road safety and starting school.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated traffic light in a dry place. If needed, simply wipe it with a dry cloth. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to display it outdoors, a coat of paint or a wood glaze protects the wood and keeps its shape for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the traffic light or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can varnish it, paint it, stick things on it or oil it. Paint and glue stick well to the natural surface.

Why does the traffic light have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge with smooth sides. It is a feature of the process, not a defect.

How wide is the traffic light at my chosen height? For reference: at a height of 10 cm, the traffic light is 6.5 cm wide. The width grows in proportion to the height you choose.

Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is always identical, but the wood is not. As a natural material, every piece has its own grain and shade. Occasionally there are small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

The wooden cutout is just the start. Then comes the afternoon at the craft table, when red, amber and green become little works of art. And a child proudly holds up their very own traffic light. Simply choose your height and quantity. You design the rest.
