Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The children's birthday party is coming up, and the theme is settled: Vikings. All you need now are shapes that little hands can paint and decorate. This wooden Viking ship is made for exactly that. The untreated plywood silhouette takes paint, glue and glitter well. And at the end, every child holds their own little dragon boat.
What changes for you
- You can start crafting straight away, with no prep or sanding – because the Viking ship is laser-cut and has smooth edges.
- You design the shape just the way you like – because the untreated wood can be decorated with stick-ons, painted, coated or oiled.
- Your project gets exactly the right size, from a small table scatter piece to the large centrepiece of your table decoration – thanks to widths from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You're ready for groups too, whether it's a school class, a nursery or a holiday club – because the Viking ship comes single or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
- You work with a neatly finished cutout from Bütic's own production in Pößneck – made in Thuringia.
Why this Viking ship makes a difference day to day
A ready-cut shape takes care of the most time-consuming part for you. You don't have to draw or saw anything. You can focus fully on designing. When crafting with kids, that leaves more time for the fun part – mixing colours, decorating, proudly showing off. And as decoration, the clear ship silhouette brings a bit of adventure to your shelf, window or table.
Material & finish
The Viking ship is made from 3 mm plywood and cut by laser. That's where the smooth edges come from, along with the typical brown edge that frames the shape. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That's why it takes paint and glue especially well. As a natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Brightness and grain vary, and small knots may occur. This makes every piece one of a kind.

- For crafts with kids at home or at nursery: one shape per child, paints on the table – and the afternoon is sorted.
- As nautical decoration on a shelf, on the windowsill or in a child's room: the clear silhouette brings a Nordic theme into the room straight away.
- For medieval and Viking festivals, club stalls or theme nights: with sets of 10 or more, you can decorate larger areas in a uniform look without hunting around.
- In a shop or café with a seasonal window display: painted or left natural, the wooden shape sits quietly in your display.
Good to know about the Viking ship
The Vikings' longships were remarkable for their time. Thanks to their shallow hulls, they could sail not only the open sea but also shallow rivers. That's one reason why the ship silhouette still stands for setting off and adventure today. It's also why the shape suits theme parties, nautical decoration and any project with a touch of the explorer spirit.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, it's best to store it somewhere dry and protect it from constant moisture. If you want to display it outdoors or in damper rooms, you can paint or oil it first. That way, the surface stays looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the Viking ship or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is completely untreated and can be decorated with stick-ons, painted, coated or oiled – just as you like.
Why does the shape have a brown edge? The Viking ship is laser-cut. This creates the typical dark edge. It comes from the cutting process and also gives you smooth edges.
Do all the shapes look exactly the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't. As a natural material, it varies in brightness and grain, and small knots are possible. This makes every piece one of a kind.
Is the wooden shape suitable for outdoor use? If untreated, you should protect it from constant moisture. If you paint or oil it first, you can also use it outdoors in a sheltered spot.
A child holds up their finished, painted ship and beams. Or your decoration suddenly tells a little story. Just choose your width and quantity – you design the rest yourself.
