A rainy afternoon. The craft table is set and the paints are ready. All that's missing is a shape that makes you want to get started. This plywood walrus is made for your next crafting afternoon: a clear silhouette, untreated and ready for your ideas. Maybe you're crafting with children, decorating your window for winter or planning a maritime table decoration. The walrus makes getting started easy.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away – the wood comes untreated in its natural finish and takes any colour well.
  • You get exactly the size that suits your project – from small table scatter to a large shop window piece. Widths range from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your decoration looks neat and well thought out. The laser cut leaves smooth edges, so there's nothing to sand down.
  • You can plan larger projects with ease – Christmas crafts with children, a nursery group or shop decoration. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 are available.
  • You're holding a genuine natural material. Every walrus shows its own grain, which makes it one of a kind.

Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day

A ready-made shape takes care of the hardest part for you: getting started. There's no lengthy cutting out or sketching. You simply lay the walrus in front of you and start decorating – on your own, with children or in a group. A simple afternoon quickly turns into a small collection of homemade decorations. They bring joy at home, at nursery or on the shop counter.

Material & finish

The walrus is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood. That's where the smooth edges come from, along with the typical brown edge that gives the silhouette a fine outline. The wood is untreated, not varnished and not glazed. You can paint it, stick things on it, oil it or leave it natural. Wood is a purely natural material, so every surface turns out a little different. Varying shades, fine textures and small knots are not flaws. They make every piece one of a kind. Every walrus is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden walrus

  • Crafting with children: every child paints their own walrus. By the end, a whole colourful herd is swimming across the table.
  • For winter decorations: put a few walruses in different sizes on the window or windowsill. Your home shows wintry motifs straight away.
  • Making Christmas decorations: decorate small walruses, add a ribbon and hang them on a branch. Homemade tree decorations with character.
  • In the children's room: decorate the walrus in the colour of your choice and put it on the wall or door. A loving detail that stays.
  • In a shop or café: use the 50 cm walrus and smaller sizes to decorate your shop window or counter with a winter theme. Quick to set up and in a consistent style.
  • As a gift tag: write on a small walrus and tie it to the parcel. Your gift feels special before it's even unwrapped.

Good to know about the walrus

The walrus is one of the best-known animals of the Arctic. It stands for ice, sea and winter. That's exactly why the silhouette suits wintry window decorations, maritime themes and craft projects about polar animals. Use it on its own or combine it with other animal motifs.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. The plywood is untreated, and if you store it dry, it keeps its shape and look for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you'd like to use the walrus outdoors or in damp rooms, paint or oil it first. This gives the surface extra protection.

Variants & what's included

  • Choose any width: 3 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • Supplied untreated in its natural state, without paint or decoration

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the walrus straight away? Yes. The wood is untreated and neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glue and oils adhere directly to the surface.

Where does the brown rim on the edges come from? It is created by the laser and is typical of this type of cut. The edges are smooth and don't need any finishing.

How tall is the walrus at a given width? As a reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 7 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.

Does every walrus look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, plywood shows varying shades, fine textures and occasionally small knots. This makes every piece one of a kind.

Are there quantities for larger projects? Yes. As well as single pieces, you can choose sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 – for example for craft groups, schools or shop decoration.

A wooden cutout is only the beginning. What counts is the moment the first painted walrus is dry, proudly shown off and given a permanent place in your decorations. Simply choose your size – single or in a set – and get started.
