Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The children's party is coming up and the knight's castle is built. Now the little knights just need their shields. Or perhaps you'd like to design your own family crest, paint a door sign or try out a decorating idea. This wooden coat of arms shield is made for exactly that on your craft table. The untreated surface is ready for you to design just the way you like.
What changes for you
- You can start designing straight away. The poplar plywood is untreated, so you can paint it, decorate it, varnish it or oil it.
- You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- There's no sanding needed before little hands get to work. The laser cut leaves smooth edges.
- Kitting out larger craft groups is easy. The shield comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- Your design has the right shape from the start. The classic heraldic shield shape is a good base for family crests, knight designs or name signs.
Why this coat of arms shield makes a difference
A coat of arms you've designed yourself feels different from any shop-bought decoration. It tells the story of the person who made it. Whether on a child's bedroom door, on your front door or as a party bag gift from a knight-themed birthday, the familiar shield shape gives your idea a recognisable frame. You can focus entirely on designing. The shape is already right.
Material & finish
The shield is made from 3 mm poplar plywood and cut by laser. That's why the edges have the typical brown rim, which gives the cutout a handmade look. The finish is clean and the edges are smooth. You can pick up the shield and start designing right away. Every piece is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a natural material, so its lightness and grain always vary a little. Small knots or variations in the texture are not a flaw. They make every shield one of a kind.

- For your family crest: transfer your family's design onto the classic heraldic shape. Then a piece of family history hangs on your wall.
- As a door or name sign: add a name and pick your colours. The child's bedroom gets its own personal entrance.
- At primary school or in a craft group: with the set of 25 or 50, every participant gets an identical blank. The craft afternoon starts without any material preparation.
- For clubs and medieval fairs: with the set of 100, you can design matching coats of arms for your stall, camp or parade. A consistent look with little effort.
Good to know about the coat of arms shield
Since the Middle Ages, the shield has been the heart of every coat of arms. It carried the colours and symbols that let people recognise families and knights from afar. That's why the shape still works so well for anything personal today: from your own family crest to a name sign that belongs to just one child.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated wood in a dry place, and it will keep its shape and be ready for your project. If you'd like to protect or finish the surface, you can varnish or oil it after designing. Just as you prefer.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the poplar plywood is completely untreated. It is neither lacquered nor glazed. You can paint it, decorate it, varnish it or oil it straight away.
Why does the shield have a brown edge? The shield is cut by laser. The brown edge forms naturally during cutting and also makes the edges smooth.
How wide is the shield at my chosen height? The proportions stay the same: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 8 cm. You can use this as a guide for all other sizes.
Does every shield look exactly the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it shows varying lightness, grain and sometimes small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.
Are there quantity options? Yes, the shield is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100. Ideal for craft groups, schools or clubs, for example.
A wooden cutout is only the beginning. What follows is the moment a child proudly holds up their own painted knight's shield. Or the moment your family crest hangs on the wall for the first time. Just choose your size and quantity and get started.
