Why this wooden coat of arms shield makes a difference
A family coat of arms you've designed yourself on the wall, a painted shield for every little knight at the party or a matching club emblem on your stand: with a blank that already has the right shape, you get to the result faster and can focus entirely on the creative part. Instead of cutting and finishing, you're left with the fun bit – colour, design and the moment your very own coat of arms lies finished in front of you.
Material & finish
The coat of arms shield is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood and made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean. So you can pick up the blank straight away without any rough spots getting in the way. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. This means paints, glues and oils adhere well. As a purely natural material, each piece has its own shade and grain. Small knots may occur. That is exactly what makes every coat of arms shield one of a kind.

- For a knight party: every child paints their own little coat of arms shield – and takes home a keepsake they've designed themselves.
- For a family coat of arms: transfer your design onto the wood, colour it in – and a piece of your own history hangs on the wall.
- For clubs: design your emblem in the same size for every member – with sets of up to 100, even large groups are no extra effort.
- At a medieval market or on your stall: use several wooden shields as decoration or a hands-on activity. They are quick to prepare and fit the theme.
- Crafting with children: decorate, paint, write on it – the thin plywood is light and sits comfortably even in small hands.
Good to know about coats of arms
Coats of arms emerged in the Middle Ages so that knights in full armour could still be recognised on the battlefield – the German word “Wappen” comes from the Middle High German “wâpen”, meaning weapon. That's exactly why the classic shield shape still suits anything that shows belonging: from family coats of arms and club emblems to decorations for knight parties and medieval fairs.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: keep the untreated wood dry and protect it from prolonged moisture, and it will keep its shape for a long time. If you paint, oil or varnish it, you'll seal the surface as well – so your finished coat of arms stays looking good for years.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the coat of arms shield? Yes. The wood is left natural and can be painted, decorated with stickers or paper, coated or oiled – exactly to your own design.
Why does the shield have a brown edge? The brown edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this process – it frames the design evenly.
How wide is the coat of arms shield? The width depends on the height you choose: at a height of 10 cm, for example, it is 8 cm.
Does every piece look the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't: as a natural material, it shows different shades, grain patterns and occasionally small knots – every piece is one of a kind.
Is the wood treated? No, the poplar plywood is neither varnished nor glazed. That's why paint and glue adhere particularly well.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the moment your very own coat of arms lies finished in front of you – painted to your idea, in your colours. Simply choose your size and quantity and get started.
