Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. Two weeks to go until Christmas. The craft box is on the table and the children want to get started. But you still need a design that feels festive and is easy to decorate. That is exactly what this Christmas gnome is for. It is a laser-cut silhouette made from untreated plywood. The face and outlines are already finely marked on it. All you add is paint, felt or imagination. Just right for your Advent craft afternoon.
What changes for you
- You can start decorating straight away instead of cutting out by hand first. The gnome arrives ready laser-cut with smooth edges.
- Your Christmas decoration gets a finished face, even if you can't draw. The fine contour lines on the top side take care of that.
- You decorate it in your own style. The untreated wood can be glued, painted, coated or oiled.
- You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small gift tag to a large window figure. You choose the height freely from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can plan bigger projects with ease, such as crafting with a group of children. The gnome is also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this Christmas gnome makes a difference day to day
A figure you have decorated yourself says more than shop-bought decorations. When the gnome stands in the window, on a present or on the festive table, it holds an afternoon spent together. And you can see that. The natural wood also brings a calm, cosy feel to the room. That simply belongs to the Advent season.
Material & finish
The gnome is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge. It is a recognisable sign of this production method. The edges are smooth. So you can pick it up comfortably and work on it straight away. The top side shows the contour lines. The underside stays natural. The wood is neither varnished nor glazed. That is why it takes paint and glue reliably. Every piece is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a purely natural material, so every silhouette turns out a little different. Variations in shade, fine textures in the grain and small knots are normal. They make each piece one of a kind, not a flawed one.

How to use the Christmas gnome
- Crafting with children in Advent: each child paints their own gnome. In the end, a whole colourful gnome family stands on the windowsill.
- On a present: a small gnome as a tag on ribbon or string. The parcel looks lovingly wrapped before it is even opened.
- On the festive table: one figure at each place, perhaps with a name written on it. Your guests have something to discover before the first course.
- In a café, bakery or at a market stall: arrange gnomes in several sizes among your goods or in the shop window. A Christmas counter you can set up in a few minutes.
- For nursery, school or club parties: with a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100, everyone gets their own figure. And you don't have to pre-cut any of them.
Good to know about the gnome
The gnome comes from Scandinavian tradition. Known as “Nisse” or “Tomte”, it was a secret house spirit that watched over the farm and family. At Christmas, it was given a small treat. That is why it works so well as a home-made lucky charm on a present or as a companion through Advent.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do. Keep the untreated gnome dry and it will keep its natural look for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to make the figure more durable, you can paint or oil it. This gives the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the gnome or glue things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated, so neither varnished nor glazed. That is why paint, glue and oils stick well.
Are both sides designed? No. The front features the contour lines with the face and details, while the back is left natural.
Why do the gnomes look slightly different? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That is what makes every figure unique.
What is the brown edge on the sides? It forms during laser cutting and is typical of this cutting method. The edges are still smooth and cleanly finished.
A wooden silhouette is only the start. What counts is the moment the children proudly set up their painted gnomes. And Advent becomes a little more your own. Simply choose the height you want – singly or as a set.
