Your child is about to start school and the bedroom should look festive. You want something you can design yourself instead of ready-made decorations off the shelf. That is exactly what this wooden pennant is for. It is an untreated plywood pennant that you paint, decorate or write on, just as you like. Thread several pennants onto a string and you have bunting that is truly your own.

What changes for you

  • You can design each flag individually, for example with a name or date for a birthday, the first day of school or a wedding. The wood is untreated, so it takes paint, varnish or oil well.
  • You thread the pennants on without drilling or fiddling. There are two ready-made 3 mm holes in the corners.
  • You will find the right size for every project. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Crafting with children is relaxed. The laser-cut edges are smooth and don't need sanding.
  • You can plan bigger projects such as long bunting or guest gifts without ordering pieces one by one. The pennants are also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this wooden pennant makes a difference in everyday life

Paper bunting creases, fades and ends up in the bin after the party. Wood lasts. The bunting from the first day of school still looks just as lovely in the bedroom a year later. The painted wedding decorations become a keepsake instead of something you throw away. Plywood also feels pleasantly soft in your hand. In a room it looks calmer than plastic or paper, with no garish effects.

Material & finish

The pennant is made of 3 mm plywood and laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That gives it smooth edges and the typical brown rim, which outlines each piece finely. The wood is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. So everything you want to design with will stick: paint, glue, oil or pens. As a natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Lightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. This makes every pennant one of a kind, not faulty.

How to use the wooden pennants

  • For starting school: paint each flag with one letter of the name and thread them onto a string. Above the school cone hangs bunting like no other.
  • Crafting with children: each child designs their own pennant. At the end of the afternoon, a shared piece of work hangs in the room, and everyone is proud of it.
  • For a wedding: with names and the date written on them, the pennants decorate the table or the buffet. Later they become a keepsake for the couple.
  • If you want to make Christmas decorations: paint small pennants with stars or numbers to make bunting for the window. Or number them from 1 to 24 for a hanging advent calendar.
  • In a café or at a market stall: wooden bunting with offers or seasonal motifs above the counter creates a lovingly presented display in just a few minutes. Next season, you can simply redesign it.

Good to know about the pennant

Pennants have a long tradition as a sign of special occasions. As early as the Middle Ages, they announced festivals and events on lances and masts. Bunting still carries this festive signal today. That is why it suits birthdays, starting school, weddings and any moment worth celebrating.

Care & durability

There is not much you need to do. Untreated plywood is happiest in a dry indoor space. Protect it from constant damp and wet. Then your designed pennants will keep their shape and colour for years. If you want to protect or bring out the surface, you can paint, oil or varnish it as you wish.

  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the pennant or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is left completely natural. You can stick things on it, paint it, coat it or oil it. Paint and glue adhere particularly well to the untreated surface.

How do I hang the pennants? Each pennant has two holes with a 3 mm diameter in the corners. Simply thread a string through. Several pennants then make wooden bunting.

Why don't all the pennants look the same? Wood is a natural material. Lightness and grain vary, and small knots are normal. This makes every piece one of a kind.

Where does the brown rim come from? The pennant is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim along the edges. It also leaves the edges smooth, so they need no finishing.

Which size suits my project? As a guide: at 10 cm wide, the pennant is 6.5 cm high. You can choose any width between 5 and 50 cm in 1 cm steps.

What counts is the moment your own bunting hangs above the party table and everyone asks where you got it. Just choose your width and quantity – you design the rest.
