Why this wooden xylophone makes a difference every day
A music motif made of real wood feels more tactile and looks more matt than paper or plastic. That goes for a card, a door wreath or a wall. You don't need to cut anything out or draw anything first. The shape is finished and clean. So you have more time for the fun part: painting, decorating and giving.
Material & finish
The cutout is made of 3 mm plywood and is laser-cut. That's why it has smooth edges and the characteristic brown rim, which gives the motif a fine outline. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint, oil or decorate it however you like. As a natural material, every piece is unique. Different shades, fine textures in the grain or small knots are not flaws. They are simply part of what wood is. The xylophone is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

- For a new baby or a birthday: Stick the little motif onto the card. It turns a simple card into one with a three-dimensional detail that people keep.
- As a gift tag: Write a name on the xylophone and tie it to the ribbon. Your guests will know straight away whose parcel it is.
- For music schools, nurseries or shops: Use several cutouts to decorate a shop window, pinboard or themed table all about music. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, even larger events are easy to plan.
- At a craft afternoon: Each child gets their own xylophone to paint. At the end, every child takes a little work of art home.
Good to know about the xylophone
The name xylophone comes from Greek. “xylon” means wood and “phoné” means sound. So it's an instrument whose voice comes from wood. There could hardly be a more fitting material for this cutout. In everyday use, the shape is often called a glockenspiel too. That makes it suitable for all kinds of music motifs, from the nursery to a concert invitation.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the cutout in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. Then the untreated wood will keep its shape and look good for a long time. If you want to use it outdoors, a coat of paint or oil gives the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Is the xylophone a playable instrument? No. It's a flat decorative cutout made of 3 mm plywood for crafting, painting and decorating. It is not a musical instrument.
Can I paint or decorate the wood? Yes. The wood is untreated and takes acrylic and craft paints, varnishes, oils and glue well.
Why do the edges look brownish? The motif is laser-cut. The brown rim forms during cutting and gives smooth edges and a fine outline.
Why do the wood tones vary? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That's exactly what makes every piece unique.
How long are the beaters? Always half as long as the xylophone is wide. So at 10 cm wide, they are 5 cm long.
What counts is the moment a child proudly holds the xylophone they painted themselves. Or the smile when someone opens your card. Just choose your width and get started.
