Spring is knocking at the window and the craft box is on the table. But you still need a motif that children and adults recognise straight away. This wooden wren is made for your next crafting afternoon. It's a laser-cut plywood silhouette, untreated and ready to paint, stick things on or decorate. A plain blank becomes your very own spring and nature decoration.

What changes for you

  • You can start straight away instead of sawing first. The wren comes ready laser-cut with clean, smooth edges.
  • You design it exactly the way you want. The wood is untreated and can be painted, decorated with stick-ons, stained or oiled.
  • Your decoration always fits the space you have. Choose a width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps. Use it small on a card or large as a window picture.
  • Crafting with children stays relaxed. The laser-cut edges are smooth. Nobody has to sand or touch anything up.
  • You get exactly the quantity you need. Buy it singly or in a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100. That also works for groups, school classes or shop decorations.

Why this wooden wren makes a difference every day

A motif made of real wood looks calmer and warmer than colourful ready-made decorations. Use it on the window, in a door wreath or on a card you've made yourself. The native bird brings nature into your home without being loud. It fits into spring decorations just as well as into a handmade gift. And you can see that in the result: it's yours, not off the shelf.

Material & finish

The wren is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood and has the typical fine brown edge. This edge frames the silhouette and gives it a clear outline, with no finishing needed. The surface is left natural, not varnished or glazed. It takes paint, glue or oil well. Wood is a purely natural material, so every blank turns out slightly different. Some are lighter, some darker, with small differences in the grain or little knots. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind. Every wren is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, with clean, careful workmanship.

How to use the wren

  • Crafting with children: every child paints their own bird. In the end, a whole colourful wren family hangs in the window.
  • For a spring door wreath: tuck a few small silhouettes between the twigs. Your entrance greets guests before they even reach the door.
  • On cards and gifts: stick on a small wren. A plain little parcel becomes a lovingly decorated gift, for Mother's Day, for example.
  • As a large single piece: at 40 or 50 cm wide, the bird fills a wall or shop window and is easy to see.
  • In a café, bakery or at a market stall: with a set of 25, 50 or 100, you can decorate your counter and shop window in a uniform look for the start of the season. It's quick to set up and you can redesign it every year.

Good to know about the wren

The wren is one of the smallest native birds. It owes its royal German name, Zaunkönig, to an old fable in which it becomes king of the birds through cunning. Small, but with a big effect. That's exactly why it's such a popular motif for spring and nature decorations. On cards and gifts, it brings joy straight away.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Stored dry, the untreated cutout keeps its natural look for a long time. As the wood is left natural, don't expose it to moisture for long periods. If you want to use it outdoors, paint or oil it first to protect the surface.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the wren or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be painted, decorated with stick-ons, stained or oiled. It's ideal for crafting and decorating.

Where does the brown edge come from? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that finely frames the silhouette. The edges are smooth and need no finishing.

How tall is the figure at the width I choose? As a reference: at 10 cm wide, it is 7.5 cm tall. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.

Why do the cutouts look different? Wood is a purely natural material. Colour, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That's exactly what makes every wren one of a kind.

What counts is the afternoon when a plain blank becomes your own little herald of spring. Painted, glued, given as a gift. Just choose your size and get started.
