The children's party has a magic theme. Your New Year's Eve decorations should be something special this year. And you're looking for a shape that brings a festive feel to the table straight away. If you want to craft a top hat, paint one or add it to your decorations, this laser-cut wooden silhouette is made for your craft table. A clear shape, untreated wood, and you decide what it becomes.

What changes for you

  • You start designing straight away instead of sawing. The top hat arrives ready laser-cut with smooth edges.
  • Your paints, varnishes and glues hold reliably. The plywood is untreated and takes everything well. That's true whether you want to paint, cover or oil the top hat.
  • You'll find the right size for every project, from small table scatter to large wall pieces. The width can be chosen from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your project looks all of a piece, even with lots of parts. The sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces come in consistent quality.
  • You get a piece of craftsmanship from Germany. Every cutout is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this top hat makes a difference in everyday life

A motif made of real wood feels different from printed paper. It has weight in your hand and a natural surface. And it stays looking good for years. Instead of cutting and improvising every time, you reach for the ready-made shape. You spend your time on the fun part: designing. An afternoon of crafts with children, a table decoration or a shop window display becomes something people like to touch and look at.

Material & finish

The top hat is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives the edges the typical brown rim. It's a fine detail that makes the silhouette stand out even more. The edges are smooth, so children can handle the shape too. The wood is untreated, not varnished and not glazed. You can cover it, paint it, oil it or decorate it however you like. Wood is a natural material, so brightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. This isn't a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind.

How to use the top hat

  • At a magic-themed birthday party: every child paints their own little top hat. At the end, they take home a keepsake they made themselves.
  • For New Year's Eve and New Year: scatter a few top hats between candles and confetti on the table. The festive table instantly looks ready for celebrating.
  • For wedding decorations: write a name on the wooden hat and it becomes a place card. Guests can take it home afterwards as a keepsake.
  • At nursery or primary school: if you like children to craft a top hat, a set of 25 or 50 covers the whole group at once. No hours of cutting out in advance.
  • As a template for drawing a top hat: simply trace round the silhouette on paper or fabric. The shape comes out clean and even in any size.
  • In the café, the bakery or the shop window: large cutouts up to 50 cm wide present a seasonal theme quickly and neatly, from carnival to New Year's Eve.

Good to know about the top hat

Since the 19th century, the top hat has stood for festive elegance. You know it from the groom and from the chimney sweep as a lucky charm. And of course from the magician who pulls a rabbit out of the hat. That's why the silhouette suits so many occasions: weddings, New Year's Eve, New Year greetings or a magic-themed party.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated wood in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. Then it keeps its shape and surface for a long time. If you paint or oil it, you decide on the look and protection of the surface yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or cover the top hat? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be painted, decorated, covered or oiled. Paints and glues stick directly to the wood.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The top hat is laser-cut. The brown edge forms naturally during cutting. It also gives smooth edges without splinters.

How tall is the top hat at the width I choose? As a reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 9 cm. The proportions stay the same across all sizes.

Do all pieces look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it shows different shades, grain patterns and sometimes small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

Where is the cutout made? In our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia. Every top hat is laser-cut and checked there.

A wooden cutout is only the starting point. On the festive table, at the craft table or in the shop window, a simple silhouette becomes something finished that you designed yourself. Just choose your width and quantity. You design the rest.
