Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The craft table is set with paints, brushes and glue. All that's missing now is the right base shape. That's exactly what this plywood cylinder is made for. It's a clear geometric shape. You can paint it, stick things on it or simply use it as decoration as it is. Whether it's a creative project at home, model making or a lesson at school: you choose the size that suits your idea and get started straight away.
What changes for you
- You'll find the right size for every project. The wooden cylinder can be ordered from 2 x 1 cm to 50 x 25 cm (width x height) in 1 cm steps.
- You can design the surface just the way you want. The wood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, give it a coat of finish or oil it.
- You can carry on working without sanding. The laser cut gives you smooth edges and a clean finish.
- For larger projects, you don't need to reorder piece by piece. The cylinders also come in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
- You can explain geometry hands-on instead of just on paper. The cylinder is a clear base shape for lessons and learning games.
Why this wooden cylinder makes a difference in everyday use
A good base shape takes care of the hardest part for you: getting started. You don't have to cut it out yourself or smooth the edges. You hold a finished, clean shape in your hand and can focus fully on designing. That way, a craft afternoon ends with a finished result. And an idea becomes a piece you're happy to show off.
Material & finish
The cylinders are laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. That's where the smooth edges come from. It also creates the typical brown edge that is characteristic of laser-cut pieces. The wood stays natural, with no varnish or glaze. It takes paint, glue and oil well. Wood is a purely natural material, so every cutout turns out a little different. Shades vary, each piece has its own grain, and some have small knots. That's not a flaw. It's what makes every piece one of a kind. Every cylinder is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden cylinder
- Crafting with children: everyone gets their own shape and paints. At the end, there's a little gallery of hand-painted figures on the table.
- Model making: use the cylinder as a component or base shape. You save yourself the hard work of sawing it out by hand.
- In the classroom: wooden geometric shapes you can touch make abstract terms easier to grasp. And the lesson sticks in the mind.
- Seasonal decorations: painted, decorated or left natural, the cylinders can be arranged in a new way for every season.
- In shops or cafés: use them as a base for signs, table scatter or window displays. With the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can quickly fill larger areas too.
Good to know about the cylinder
The word cylinder comes from the Greek word “kylindros”, which simply means “roller”. It is still one of the first basic solids taught at school. That's exactly why the shape works so well for learning games and geometry lessons. What you hold in your hand, you understand faster than on paper.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated cutouts somewhere dry and keep them away from constant moisture. That way, they'll keep their shape for a long time. If you'd like to protect the surface, you can simply give it a coat of finish or oil it, whatever suits your project.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the cylinders are left natural. They are neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint them, stick things on them, give them a coat of finish or oil them straight away.
Where does the brown edge come from? The cutouts are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It also makes the edges smooth, so they don't need sanding.
Why do the cutouts look different? Wood is a purely natural material. Shade and grain vary, and small knots are normal. That's exactly what makes every piece one of a kind.
Can I order larger quantities? Yes. As well as single pieces, there are sets of 10, 25, 50 and 100 pieces. They're ideal for school classes, craft groups or shop decorations, for example.
