Material & finish

The disc is made of cast acrylic (GS) – PLEXIGLAS^®, which we cut ourselves on our lasers at Bütic. Laser cutting gives clean, even edges that need no finishing. Once you peel off the protective film, the surface is glossy. At around 3 mm thick, the cutout is rigid enough for signs, displays and light objects. At the same time, it is easy to work with. It is made in Thuringia, Germany – short distances, clean workmanship.

How to use your PLEXIGLAS^® disc

• Christmas crafting with children: paint or decorate small discs – and you'll end up with homemade Christmas decorations on the tree that survive being packed away in the box, too.
• For model making: use the round panel as a base, a roundabout or a component. The precise laser-cut edge fits flush against adjoining parts.
• Light features: the 6 % translucency lets the orange glow warmly in front of a light source – a lovely, atmospheric effect for lamps and light decorations.

Good to know about acrylic glass

Cast acrylic glass (GS) is produced using a more elaborate process than extruded material, which makes it especially clean to laser-cut – you can see it in the smooth, even cut edges of these discs. That's exactly why this cutout also works well for projects where the edge remains visible, such as signs, tags or displays.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do: simply leave the protective film on the disc until your project begins – that way the glossy surface stays scratch-free. Once in use, its weather resistance and UV stability ensure that colour and shape last outdoors, too.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the disc outdoors permanently? Yes. The acrylic glass is weatherproof, frost-resistant and UV-stable – suitable for permanent outdoor decorations, signs and garden projects.

Does light shine through the orange disc? The disc is translucent with a light transmission of 6%. In front of a light source, it gives a soft, warm orange glow. This makes it ideal for light objects.

How are the edges finished? All cuts are laser-cut. This gives clean, even edges without you having to do any finishing.

What does the size refer to? The diameter of the circle: if you choose 10 cm width, for example, the height is also 10 cm.

Why is there a film on the disc? The protective film keeps the glossy surface free from scratches. Simply peel it off as soon as you start your project.
