Each oval disc is made of cast acrylic glass (GS) approx. 3 mm thick. It is a branded material that feels solid and lasts well beyond a single use. All cuts are made by laser. This gives clean, even edges with no reworking needed. Once you peel off the protective film, you will see a glossy surface. It diffuses light softly with around 90 % translucency. Bütic makes the discs in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Good to know about acrylic glass

PLEXIGLAS^® was developed in Germany in the 1930s. It is still the best-known brand name for acrylic glass today. The material is much lighter than mineral glass and does not shatter into sharp shards. This makes the discs well suited to projects where children join in or where decorations are hung up.

Frequently asked questions

Is the disc see-through? No, the colour colourless opal is translucent. Light passes through softly with around 90 % light transmission, but you cannot see through the disc.

Can I use the discs outdoors? Yes, the cast acrylic glass is weatherproof, frost-resistant and UV-stable. It is suitable for balconies, gardens and outdoor decorations too.

How tall is the disc at a given width? The oval has a 2 to 1 ratio. At 10 cm wide, the height is 5 cm.

Why is there a film on the disc? The protective film keeps the surface free of scratches during transport. Once you peel it off, the glossy surface appears.

Are the edges clean? Yes, all cuts are lasered. The edges are even and need no reworking.
