Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. It's just before Easter. The craft table is covered in paints, and the children can't wait. Right in the middle sits a wooden hatching chick, just waiting to be painted. This laser-cut blank with its fine contour lines is made for your Easter afternoon. You don't need to draw anything or saw anything out. You can get started straight away. The little figure becomes Easter decoration for your window, your Easter tree or your table.
What changes for you
- You can start crafting straight away, with no saw and no template. The chick is already neatly laser-cut and shaped.
- Your chick looks lively even before you paint it. The face and outlines are lasered onto the surface. The laser cut also gives the chick its typical brown edge.
- You can decorate it just the way you like: glue things on, paint it, varnish it or oil it. The plywood is untreated and left natural.
- You'll find the right size for every purpose. Choose anything from a small hanging decoration for your Easter tree to a large window figure. The height is selectable from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can also kit out a nursery group, a school class or a shop without any extra effort. The chick is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden chick makes a difference every day
Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. A chick you've decorated yourself tells a little story. Perhaps it's brightly painted by a child. Perhaps it's left plain and natural in the window. Either way, it brings spring into your home without being too much. You decide the size and the design yourself. So the chick fits right into your Easter decorations instead of taking them over.
Material & finish
The chick is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood. This leaves the edges smooth, so children can easily handle it. The top side has the fine contour lines. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor stained. That's why it takes paint, glue and oil well. As a natural material, it isn't always the same shade. It may show small differences in grain or tiny knots. That makes every piece one of a kind. The chick is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the hatching chick
- Crafting with children: Every child paints their own chick. At the end, they take home a piece of Easter decoration they're really proud of.
- On the Easter tree: Paint small chicks of 5 to 10 cm and hang them up. The branch in your hallway will welcome your guests with a touch of spring as soon as they come in.
- In the window: A large chick of up to 50 cm is easy to see from outside. Neighbours and passers-by will spot it too.
- As a gift tag: Write a name on the chick. It turns an Easter present or a gift of money into a personal surprise.
- In your shop: Bakeries, cafés and farm shops can decorate counters and shop windows at Easter. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you can do it quickly and with a matching look.
Good to know about the Easter chick
A chick hatching from its egg has always stood for new life and new beginnings. That's exactly what Easter and spring are about. This is why the motif belongs to Easter decorations as naturally as eggs and bunnies. It also works well for spring parties, christenings or decorating a nursery.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated wood dry and avoid constant moisture. Then you'll enjoy it for many Easters to come. If you want to display the chick outdoors, a coat of paint or wood stain protects it from the weather.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the chick or glue things onto it? Yes. The plywood is untreated and left natural. You can paint it, glue things on, varnish it or oil it.
Why does the chick have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge, which also emphasises the outline. Laser cutting also gives the edges a smooth finish.
Do all the chicks look the same? The shape is identical, but the wood isn't. As a natural material, it varies in shade. It may show fine textures or small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.
How wide is the chick? The width depends on the height you choose. For example, at a height of 10 cm it is 8 cm wide.
Is the chick suitable for outdoor use? The wood is untreated. For outdoor use, you should protect it from moisture with paint or wood stain.
What really counts is the afternoon at the kitchen table. You craft, laugh and paint together. And afterwards, the chick you've decorated yourself stays with you through the Easter season. Simply choose your size and quantity. Then your next craft afternoon can begin.
