Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Outside it's turning wintry, and you want your home to match. The window is waiting for a motif. The winter table needs a detail. The craft afternoon needs an idea. This wooden skier decoration gives you a silhouette made for your winter decorations. It is finely laser-cut, untreated and ready for your colours. Hang one in the window or scatter several across the table as table scatter. The little skier brings a winter sports mood into your home with very little effort.
What changes for you
- You can design the motif just the way you like. The poplar plywood is untreated, so you can decorate it with stickers, paint it, varnish it or oil it.
- You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose any height from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Crafting with children stays relaxed. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so there is no sanding to do.
- You can kit out bigger projects without extra effort. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 are available, for example for a club party, a shop window or Christmas crafts with children.
- Your decorations look natural rather than artificial. Real wood and its grain give every piece its own character.
Why this skier silhouette makes a difference every day
Winter decorations are all about small details: a motif in the window, a hanging ornament on a branch, a figure on a charger plate. The skier silhouette gives your decorations a common winter sports theme. It stays calm and natural, without piles of glitter. And because you design it yourself, it ends up suiting your home rather than some catalogue.
Material & finish
The skier is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia. Laser cutting gives clean, smooth edges. It also leaves the typical brown edge that outlines the motif. The wood is left untreated. It is neither varnished nor glazed, so paints, glue and oils adhere well. Wood is a natural material and is never completely uniform. Variations in shade, small knots and fine textures in the grain are part of it. They make every piece unique.

How to use the wooden skier
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own skier. At the end, a whole downhill team hangs in the window.
- On the winter table: Scatter a few small silhouettes between candles and fir sprigs. Your table tells the story of a day on the slopes.
- As a hanging ornament: Add a ribbon and hang the skier on a branch, a gift or in a ski chalet. A greeting that lasts.
- Making Christmas decorations: Paint it, decorate it or leave it natural on cards and gifts. This puts the winter sports motif straight onto Christmas cards and parcels.
- In a shop or club: With a set of 25, 50 or 100, you can decorate a shop window, counter or club party in one go. One consistent motif, quick to set up.
Good to know about the skier
The word “ski” comes from Norwegian. It goes back to an Old Norse word meaning roughly “stick of wood” or split wood. The first skis were simply wooden boards. So a wooden skier takes up this origin quite literally. It fits right into natural winter decorations, ski chalets and everything to do with winter sports.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do. As the wood is untreated, just store the cutout somewhere dry and avoid constant moisture. If you paint or oil the motif, you give the surface extra protection. That way you can enjoy it for many winters.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the cutout is neither varnished nor glazed. This means paints, glue and oils adhere particularly well.
Why does the skier have a brown edge? The motif is laser-cut, and the brown edge is a typical result. It also gives smooth edges and a clear outline.
Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood doesn't. As a natural material, it shows different shades, fine textures and sometimes small knots. That is exactly what makes every piece unique.
Is the motif suitable for crafting with children? Yes, the laser-cut edges are smooth. The silhouette is easy to paint and decorate.
Can I order larger quantities? Yes, the skier is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100. Ideal for schools, clubs or shop windows.
A piece of plywood is only the start. Then comes the afternoon when a brush, some paint and a small silhouette become your very own winter decorations. And the window where they hang all winter long. Just choose your size and quantity, and design the rest yourself.
