Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A rainy afternoon. The craft table is set with paints, brushes and glue. All that's missing is a motif worth making. This wooden Welsh dragon is made for exactly that. It has a clear silhouette that you can paint, decorate or simply hang up in its natural state. Use it as a craft project with children, as wall decoration or as a gift for fans of Wales. The plain wooden cutout quickly becomes a piece that's all your own.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, oiling or decorating straight away – because the plywood comes untreated in its natural state.
- Your project gets exactly the right size – thanks to a width you can choose freely from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can work comfortably with no sanding or finishing needed – because the dragon is laser-cut and has smooth edges.
- You can supply larger craft groups or events without ordering several times – single or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- Your motif looks detailed and recognisable – the typical dragon silhouette needs no further explanation.
Why this wooden dragon makes a difference in everyday life
Ready-made decorations often look like everyone else's. A wooden blank, on the other hand, leaves you completely free. You decide on colour, finish and use. In the end, you have something on the wall or on the table that exists only once. That is what makes crafting with children so rewarding: a real material in your hands and a visible result at the end.
Material & finish
The dragon is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge. The edge emphasises the outline and makes the motif look finished before you even pick up a brush. The wood is untreated, not varnished or glazed. That's why it reliably takes paint, oil and glue. Wood is a natural material, so its shade and grain vary slightly from piece to piece. Small knots may also occur. This makes every dragon one of a kind. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, with clean, careful workmanship.

How to use the wooden dragon
- Crafting with children: everyone paints their own dragon – and at the end, a small, colourful dragon parade hangs in the children's room.
- As a gift idea: a small dragon on a ribbon decorates a parcel for fans of Wales or fantasy – and can be reused as a hanging ornament afterwards.
- As wall or window decoration: left natural or painted red, the silhouette shows the typical features of the Welsh dragon in a clear, handmade form.
- In a café, pub or shop: with a large dragon up to 50 cm wide, you can decorate the shop window or counter for theme nights, rugby broadcasts or British promotion weeks. It's quick to hang up and lasts a long time.
- For schools, clubs or workshops: with the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, every participant has their own blank – without you having to reorder individually.
Good to know about the Welsh dragon
The red dragon – ‘Y Ddraig Goch’ in Welsh – appears on the national flag of Wales. It has been a symbol of the country for centuries. That's why the motif suits anything to do with Wales: as a gift for friends with a link to Wales, as decoration for St David's Day on 1 March or for rugby nights among fans.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Simply store the untreated dragon in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. This keeps the plywood stable in shape and the surface looking good for a long time. If you paint or oil it, you give the wood extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the dragon or glue things onto it? Yes. The plywood is untreated, not varnished or glazed. You can paint it, oil it, glue things onto it and decorate it in many other ways.
Why does the dragon have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge, which emphasises the outline. The edges are still smooth.
Do all the dragons look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood doesn't. As a natural material, it varies in shade and may show small irregularities in the grain or small knots. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique.
How tall is the dragon at a given width? As a reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 8.5 cm. Other sizes are in proportion.
Is the dragon suitable for outdoor use? The wood is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. For outdoor use, we recommend a protective coat of paint or oil.
A piece of plywood becomes your own dragon. Once it's painted and hanging on the wall, you can say: I made that myself. Just choose your width and quantity – and get started.
