A small thank-you for your yoga teacher. A handmade sign for the yoga studio. Or a special card for someone who finds calm on the mat. Sometimes one shape is all that's missing to bring a project together. This wooden cutout of the upward-facing dog yoga pose (Urdhva Mukha Shvanasana) is made for craft ideas like these. It is a clear silhouette made of poplar plywood, and you decorate it just the way you like. That's how an idea becomes a piece that really suits you or the person you're giving it to.

What changes for you

  • You can decorate the cutout any way you like. Paint it, stick things on, oil it or varnish it. The wood comes untreated in its natural finish.
  • You get exactly the size your project needs. The width can be chosen from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your decoration looks clean and well finished. The laser-cut edges are smooth and the shape stays clearly recognisable.
  • No need to saw it out by hand. The silhouette comes ready cut from Bütic's own production in Pößneck.
  • You can plan bigger projects with ease. The cutout is available singly or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.

Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day

Shop-bought decorations don't tell a story. Something you've made yourself does. The wooden yoga pose is a motif everyone understands straight away: calm, movement, mindfulness. Hang it on the wall of the practice room, put it on a card or tie it to a gift as a tag. The clear poplar plywood silhouette fits into your project without much extra work.

Material & finish

The cutout is made of 3 mm poplar plywood. It is light enough to hang up or glue on, yet keeps its shape. Laser cutting gives smooth edges and the typical slightly browned rim. This rim gives the silhouette extra outline. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, varnishes, oils and glue adhere to it reliably. As a natural material, each piece has its own grain and shade. Now and then there are small knots. This is not a flaw. It makes every cutout one of a kind. Made in Thuringia, Germany.

How to use the wooden cutout

  • As a gift tag: write a name on it and attach it to a yoga studio voucher. The gift feels personal before it's even unwrapped.
  • For crafting with children or in a class: everyone paints their own yoga figure. At the end, a colourful row of one-of-a-kind pieces hangs on the wall.
  • As wall decoration in the practice room or at home: combine several sizes to create a calm, natural display above the mat.
  • For money gifts and cards: glue the silhouette on. It turns an envelope into a little message for anyone who loves yoga.
  • In the yoga studio, practice or shop: with sets of 10 or more, you can decorate shop windows and class rooms or make small take-home gifts for participants. Uniform and quick to do.

Good to know about the upward-facing dog

In Sanskrit, Urdhva Mukha Shvanasana literally means "upward-facing dog". The pose is a fixed part of the sun salutation. It is one of the best-known backbends in yoga. That is why people recognise the motif straight away. It works especially well as a gift for yoga fans, as decoration in the class room or as a small thank-you for your teacher.

Care & durability

There isn't much to do. As the wood is untreated, it's best to keep the cutout away from constant moisture. Oiling, painting or varnishing it gives the surface extra protection. That way the shape stays looking good for a long time.

Options & what's included

  • Width from 5 cm to 50 cm, freely selectable in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • The wooden cutout is supplied in its natural state – unpainted and untreated

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the cutout or stick things on it? Yes. The poplar plywood is untreated and takes paints, varnishes, oils and glue well.

Why does the edge have a brown rim? The cutout is laser-cut. The slightly browned rim forms during cutting. It also comes with smooth edges and a clear outline.

How tall is the figure at the width I choose? For reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 5 cm. The proportions stay the same in all sizes.

Does every cutout look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it varies in shade and grain and may have small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

A piece of plywood is just the start. What counts is the moment someone holds the gift you've made and realises: this was made just for me. Simply choose your width and quantity. You design the rest.
