Material & finish

The numbers and special characters are laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. They have the typical brown edge, which traces every contour clearly and finely, right into the curves of the font. They are made in our own production in Pößneck. The wood keeps its natural character. Some pieces are lighter, some darker, with different grain and occasional small knots. This makes every character unique. It is not a flaw, it is nature.

• Important: the height you choose refers to the numbers. Small special characters such as full stops, commas or minus signs are made to the scale of the font. That is why they are much smaller. In Arial, for example, a full stop at a font height of 10 cm is only about 1.4 cm.

Can I paint or decorate the numbers? Yes. The wood is untreated and can be painted, oiled or covered with paper or stickers – just as your decorating idea needs.

Why is the full stop smaller than the size I chose? Small punctuation marks such as full stops, commas or minus signs are made to the scale of the font. That is why they are much smaller than the height of the numbers. Order all the characters of a text in the same size, and everything will match.

What is the brown edge? The brown edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this production method. It neatly traces the contour of every character.

Why do the characters look lighter or darker? Wood is a purely natural material with its own grain, shades of colour and occasional small knots. This makes every piece unique.
