Knox wooden letters – letters made of poplar wood, 5–20 cm

Material & finish

The letters and numbers are made of 3 mm poplar plywood. They are laser cut in our own production in Pößneck. The laser cut gives smooth, precise edges with the typical brown edge. It gives each character a fine outline. The wood stays untreated, so you have complete freedom when decorating. As a natural material, each piece shows its own slightly different grain. Every character is unique.

• Lower-case letters are made to the same scale as set out in the font. So they are not as tall as the size you choose (example Arial in 10 cm: capital O 10 cm, lower-case a 7.3 cm, lower-case h 9.7 cm; the lower-case g is 10 cm tall but reaches about 2.6 cm below the baseline)
• Some capital letters have flourishes that extend beyond the selectable heights

There's not much you need to do. An occasional dry dusting is enough. As the wood is untreated, avoid constant moisture. Or paint or oil the letters before use. That way your lettering stays clean and light for a long time.

Why are the lower-case letters shorter than the size I chose? The height you choose refers to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale as the font sets out. So for one word, order all letters in the same size.

Can I paint or decorate the letters? Yes. The poplar wood is untreated and can be painted, oiled or covered. Or you can leave it in its light natural tone.

How do I attach the letters? You can glue or drill the characters. At just 3 mm thick, they are light and hold well on a wall, door or piece of furniture.
