Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The wall in the music room is still bare. The gift for a passed music exam just needs a finishing touch. Or you're looking for table decorations for a concert café. A wooden treble clef is made for moments like these. It's an untreated wooden cutout that you decorate exactly the way your occasion calls for.
What changes for you
- You can design it however you like – the plywood is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, varnish it or oil it.
- You get exactly the size you need. Choose a height from 5 to 40 cm in 1 cm steps – from a small gift tag to a large wall decoration.
- You can start straight away, with no sanding or finishing. The treble clef is laser-cut and has smooth edges.
- Your shape looks finished even left plain. The typical brown laser edge traces the outline neatly, without any paint.
- You give something handmade. A wooden treble clef on a gift shows at once: this is about music.
Why this wooden treble clef makes a difference in everyday life
In many homes, music can be heard everywhere – but you rarely see it. A wooden treble clef on the wall, on a shelf or on a music book turns your passion into a quiet decorative feature. Instead of printed decorations, you hold real natural material in your hands. You make it your own piece – left natural, painted in bright colours or lettered with a name and date.
Material & finish
The treble clef is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood in our own Bütic production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Laser cutting gives smooth edges and a clean outline, so nobody gets splinters. The fine brown edge is part of the process and visibly traces the shape. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That's why paints, glues and oils adhere reliably. As a natural material, every piece has its own grain. Some are lighter, some darker, and some have small knots. This isn't a flaw – it's what makes your treble clef one of a kind.

How to use the treble clef
- Crafting with children or in music lessons: if you want to make your own wooden treble clef, paint the blank however you like. In the end, you hold your own little work of art.
- On the cover of a homemade songbook or music book: glued on, it turns a plain book into one you'll love to open.
- As a tag on a gift for music lovers: the moment you hand it over, it's clear that someone put thought into it.
- For the party after a concert, a Jugendweihe (coming-of-age ceremony) or a music exam: a large treble clef as a wall or table decoration gives the room its theme straight away.
- In a music shop, a music school or a café with live music: combine several sizes for a shop window or counter display. It's quick to set up and lasts a long time.
Good to know about the treble clef
The treble clef developed from the letter G. To this day, it shows which line the note G sits on. Over the centuries, it became probably the best-known symbol in music notation. That's exactly why the shape works so well as a symbol. Everyone recognises it at a glance – on a songbook, on the wall of a rehearsal room or on a gift for a favourite musician.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated treble clef in a dry place and simply wipe it with a dry cloth when needed. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to hang it outside, protect it with paint or a glaze of your choice. This keeps the wood surface looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the treble clef or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glues and oils adhere directly to the surface.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The cutout is laser-cut and has smooth edges. The typical brown laser edge is part of the process.
Why does each piece look slightly different? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary – and that's exactly what makes each treble clef one of a kind.
How wide is the treble clef at the height I want? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is approx. 4.1 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Think of the moment someone opens your homemade songbook. Or spots the painted treble clef on a gift – and knows straight away that there's music inside. Just choose the size you want and get started.
