Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A new house number by the door. A date of birth above the cot. A price tag at the buffet. Often it's exactly the numbers and characters that are missing to complete the lettering. These wooden numbers and special characters in the Anatawa font fill that gap. They are laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood, left natural and available in four sizes. Made for your own text. You put together exactly what you need, character by character.
What changes for you
- You design your lettering freely. Every number and special character is sold individually, so you only order what you really need.
- Your date, house number or saying looks consistent. That's thanks to the single Anatawa font. It matches our wooden letters in upper and lower case.
- You can fix the characters easily. At just 3 mm thick, they can be glued or drilled. Use them on the wall, on wood or on a shop sign.
- You decide on the look. You can paint, oil or cover the natural poplar wood. Or you simply leave the light beige as it is.
- You get clean outlines instead of frayed edges. Every character is laser-cut. This gives it the typical brown edge that neatly traces the shape.
Why these wooden numbers make a difference in everyday life
Wooden lettering feels calmer than a printed sign. The light, natural poplar wood fits into your home without standing out too much. At the buffet or shop counter it shows that you've presented things with care rather than printing them out in a hurry. All characters come from the same font. So everything matches, whether you lay out a single date or a whole sentence.
Material & finish
The characters are laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. They are made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck. The laser cut gives exact outlines and the typical brown edge. This edge finely traces each character. The wood is left untreated. You can feel the smooth, natural surface. Slight colour variations in the grain make every piece one of a kind. This is not a flaw but a feature of a natural product.
Dimensions & technical details
- Material: poplar plywood, natural
- Material thickness: 3 mm
- Font: Anatawa
- Choice of height: 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm or 20 cm (based on the height of the numbers)
- Laser-cut with typical brown edge, made in our own production
- Each number and special character is supplied individually

- Please note: small punctuation marks such as full stop, comma or minus are made to the scale of the font. They are therefore much smaller than the height you choose
How to use the numbers and special characters
- At the front door: stick your wooden house number next to the entrance. Visitors will find you at first glance, with a welcome that looks like home.
- For a birth or wedding: lay out the date in single numbers on the gift table or frame it as wall decoration. A keepsake that lasts.
- At the buffet or in the café: label stations and prices with wooden numbers instead of paper tags. Your counter looks tidy. And the characters are ready to use again for the next occasion.
- For crafts and decorating: paint the natural characters to match your decorations. From an Advent calendar with numbers to the birthday number on the cake table.
- Our tip for your lettering: For a date, a number or a whole sentence, order all characters in the same size. Full stop, comma and minus are made to the scale of the font. They are much smaller than the height you choose. In Arial, for example, a full stop at a font height of 10 cm measures only about 1.4 cm. This way, everything matches.
Good to know about plywood
Plywood consists of several layers of wood glued crosswise. This makes it stable and less prone to warping, even at 3 mm thick. For you, this means the characters stay flat and can be glued over their whole surface. They are still light enough to stay securely on a wall or door.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Indoors, an occasional dusting is enough. As the poplar wood is untreated, protect it from constant moisture. Or paint, oil or varnish the characters to suit where you use them. This also makes them more resistant.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or oil the characters? Yes. The poplar plywood is left natural. You can paint, oil, varnish or cover it.
Why do the characters have a brown edge? The brown edge comes from laser cutting and is typical of this process. It neatly traces the outline of each character.
Why is the full stop so much smaller than the size I chose? Small punctuation marks are made to the scale of the font, just as they appear in the typeface. Order all characters of a text in the same size, and they will match.
How do I fix the numbers? You can glue or drill them. At 3 mm thick, they are suitable for walls, doors, signs and all kinds of decorations.
Are there matching letters? Yes. You'll find the Anatawa wooden letters in upper and lower case among our other products. They come in the same font and the same sizes.
Plywood and font sizes are only the means. What counts is the moment your date hangs on the wall or your house number sits on the door. And both look as if they had always been there. Simply choose the size and characters and put together your text.
