Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Soon it will hang above the nursery door: your child's name in Russian script, flowing as if written by hand. With the Cyrillic wooden letters in the MT font, you put your own text together letter by letter. Made to fit your wall. An empty space becomes a place that tells of you and your language.
What changes for you
- You create exactly the word that means something to you. You pick each letter yourself from the upper and lower case letters of the Cyrillic MT script.
- Your lettering fits the spot you have in mind. There are four heights to choose from, from 5 to 20 cm.
- You decide on colour and style yourself. The wood is unfinished, so you can paint it, decorate it with stickers or paper, varnish it or oil it.
- You get even, clean outlines. The letters are laser-cut, and the typical brown edge neatly frames each one.
- Fixing them is easy. You can glue or drill the characters and use them for any kind of decoration.
Why Cyrillic wooden letters make a difference in everyday life
A name in your own script is more than decoration. It turns a door into a home and a wall into a place with meaning. The Russian MT script looks calm and connecting. It is not a loud sign but lettering that looks handwritten. Use it as wall decoration, a door sign or a name: every day you see a word that belongs to you.
Material & finish
The letters are made of 3 mm poplar plywood with a light, beige natural surface. They are pleasantly light. The surface takes paint well, so they are a good base for painting and crafting. They are laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. This gives them cleanly cut edges with the characteristic brown laser edge. As a natural product, each piece shows its own wood grain. Small differences in colour are part of it and make your lettering one of a kind.

How to use the Cyrillic letters
- In the nursery: the name in script on the door. At first glance, the room belongs to your child.
- In the living room: a word such as family or love as wall decoration above the sofa. The room shows what matters to you.
- For a birth or christening: a painted name as a gift. Lovingly made and on display for a long time.
- In a shop or café: a greeting in Russian characters on the counter or shop window. Your customers feel spoken to directly.
- Crafting with children: paint and stick on Russian letters together. Along the way, the Cyrillic alphabet becomes something they can touch.
Good to know about the Cyrillic script
The Cyrillic script is named after the scholar Cyril. In the 9th century, he and his brother Methodius shaped the written culture of the Slavic languages. To this day, it connects millions of people with their roots. That is why lettering in Cyrillic script makes such a personal gift for a birth, a wedding or a housewarming.
Care & durability
There is not much to do: an occasional dry dusting is enough. The poplar plywood is unfinished, so it is best kept in dry indoor areas. A coat of paint or oil gives the surface extra protection and exactly the shade that suits your interior.

Frequently asked questions
Why are the lower case letters shorter than the chosen height? The chosen height refers to the capital letters. Lower case letters are made to the same scale, just as they are designed in the font. A small a is therefore shorter because of the font. An example from the Arial font at 10 cm: the capital O is 10 cm high, the small a 7.3 cm and the small h 9.7 cm. The small g measures 10 cm but reaches about 2.6 cm below the baseline. In script fonts, lower case letters are often a little smaller still.
Can I paint the letters? Yes. The wood is unfinished and can be varnished, oiled, decorated with stickers or paper, or painted. The beige poplar surface takes paint well.
How do I fix the letters? You can glue or drill them and attach them to a wall, a door or decorative objects.
What is the brown edge on the sides? It is the typical slight discolouration from laser cutting. It is part of the production process and neatly frames each letter.
Plywood and laser technology are only the means. What counts is the moment you see the finished name on the door and know: someone lives here. Just choose the size and letters, and put your lettering together.
