Material & finish

Every character is laser cut from 3 mm poplar plywood in our own production in Pößneck, with clean, careful finishing. The brown edge comes from the laser cutting and is part of the character of these letters. The light wood surface is left natural, so you can finish it however you like. As a natural product, each piece shows its own grain and subtle variations in colour. This is not a flaw. It is what sets wood apart from plastic.

Good to know about the stencil font

The stencil font is known as the classic army stencil lettering. With its distinctive bridges, it was once used to label transport crates. That is exactly why it suits door signs, wooden crates, furniture and all industrial and vintage projects so well today. It comes with a rough, honest workshop look built in.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Indoors and in dry conditions, the untreated letters keep their shape and look good for a long time. Keep the natural plywood away from constant moisture. Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or cover the letters? Yes. The poplar plywood is untreated. You can paint, oil, varnish or cover it, depending on your project.

Where does the brown edge come from? It is created during laser cutting and is typical of laser cut wooden letters. It brings out the stencil look.

How do I attach the characters? You can glue them or drill them. This lets you fix them to a wall, door, crate or sign.

Why are the full stop, comma and hyphen so small? The selected height applies to capital letters and numbers. Small punctuation marks are made to the same scale as in the font. That makes them much smaller.
