The numbers and symbols are laser-cut from 3 mm thick poplar plywood. They have the typical brown edge. It comes from the laser process and also gives a clear, easy-to-read outline. The wood stays light beige and untreated, with cleanly lasered edges. As a natural product, every character shows its own grain and subtle colour variations. This is not a flaw. It is what makes every piece unique. Everything is made by Bütic in our own production in Pößneck.

• Important: the height you choose refers to the numbers. Small punctuation marks such as the full stop, comma or minus are scaled to the font. So they are much smaller. In Arial, for example, a full stop at 10 cm is only about 1.4 cm in size.

Good to know about plywood

Plywood is made of several layers of veneer glued crosswise. This makes the characters, only 3 mm thin, more stable than a solid wood piece of the same thickness. For you, this means the delicate curves of the HiltonScript font keep their shape. Even when you glue, drill or paint the characters.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Indoors, you can simply use the characters as they are. As the poplar wood is untreated, it can't withstand constant moisture. If you paint or oil it, you give the surface extra protection. And you choose the look at the same time.

Are the numbers treated or varnished? No, the poplar plywood is untreated and natural. You can cover it with paper or stickers, paint it or oil it. Or leave it light beige.

Why are the full stop, comma and minus so small? Small punctuation marks are made to the same scale as in the font. The height you choose applies to the numbers. So a full stop turns out much smaller.

Do the numbers match the HiltonScript letters? Yes, the numbers and symbols are made in the same font. They go with the wooden letters from our other listings.
